this is a cosplay that, although it caused me much grief in many ways, i am very proud of. i spent a good amount of time and an even greater amount of money of it. originally, i used black velvet, not vinyl, but found it difficult and much too heavy. i made the majority of it more than once (therefor spending the amount of two cosplays on one) and actually gave up on it numerous times. working with vinyl was something i had acquainted myself with when i made Hatsune Miku's Append cosplay, but hardly to the extent that i needed for this one. the fabric i chose had absolutely no stretch to it and its stiffness didnt allow it drape or gather nicely at all. the lack of stretch in both the gloves and the boots made it ridiculously hard not only sew, but move in as well. the other main issue i had was the puffiness of the dress. had the skirt not been open in the front, a simple hoop skirt would have worked quite nicely. however i wasnt quite so lucky, so i had to choose between having the exaggerated, for lack of a better word, bigness of the skirt either at my hips or my butt (basically the choice between making a pannier or a bustle). i went with my hips and spent a lot of time researching and making a pannier cheap, but also strong enough to hold the weight of the vinyl skirt. all in all, i am very happy with how the cosplay came out and i look forward to getting a proper shoot done some day so that i can submit a full body picture. look forward to more of this cosplay in the future!
